The Money In Your Pocket Coalition – provides tax information and education as well as FREE TAX PREPARATION services for low to moderate income workers in Allegheny County.
Last year 72 volunteers provided 4,156 households with free tax preparation assistance. These households shared in over $6 million in refunds including $2.6 million in Earned Income Tax Credit refunds. Tax payers using our services also saved on average $85 – $150 by choosing free tax preparation rather than paid preparer services.

Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) – the federal EITC is the nation’s largest anti-poverty program. Nationwide, more than 3 million people are lifted above the poverty line by claiming the EITC each tax season. However not everyone who is eligible files for this valuable credit. In fact, the federal government estimates that as much as $38 million in EITC is left on the table by eligible taxpayers in Allegheny County each year. Click here for more information about EITC and Other Tax News. Or visit the IRS EITC webpage.
